BIG ITEMS PURCHASED FOR BABY GIRL

There are so many baby products to choose from, it can be really overwhelming deciding what you actually need and what you can do without. I love to do research, but Dexter is for sure the researcher in our relationship. He will read endless reviews and compare products. Here are the main expensive & big purchases we decided on:

4MOMS MAMAROO

My parents were kind enough to buy us this amazing rocker! I’m so excited because I knew I wanted this rocker from the moment I got pregnant. I’ve heard nothing but amazing things, my twin sister has one for her baby and she loves it. They purchased it from BUYBUYBABY and here is the link if you’re interested.

NUNA PIPA LITE LX

Trying to find the perfect car seat was a challenge! At first we were dead set on the uppaBABY Mesa car seat, but after months of research we decided on the Nuna Pipa Lite LX! Not only is it beautiful, but it is the lightest car seat ever (5.7lbs)! This will really come in handy when I am by myself & have to lug the baby around. We also got to see it in person, and we love the Aspen blue color! The thing that “sold” Dexter is the true lock base installation, which is 50% stronger than the typical belt latch. We are excited to install it in the car, and see our little girl snug in it for the first time. We are getting ours from a local baby store: here is the link if interested.

NUNA 2019 TAVO STROLLER IN ASPEN

Since we are getting the Nuna car seat, it was a no brainer to get the matching stroller! It is GORGEOUS! I absolutely love the way it looks, and how easy it is to fold & unfold. (watch this video to see the stroller) I’m looking forward to using it, and maybe I can make a blog post with my honest review, in 6 months or so! Here is the link to the stroller. But if you’re like me, and buying them TOGETHER, you can see it from this link.

SNUGGLE ME ORGANIC IN BLOOM

I wanted to get Eloise a lounger that she could use for naps + sleeping in, but also to lay her on to relax. This snuggle me is super soft, and is made from organic fabric. It is machine washable, and hypoallergenic. There are a few other baby loungers on the market, but this one seemed to be the most comfortable for baby. I also got it on sale, which was a huge PLUS! If you are interested here is the link. I purchased the bloom color (so pretty) but also love it in Ember. I might pick up this shade after she is born, so I have a backup cover when one is dirty. My twin sister also has one for baby Adelaide & she loves it!

NUNA X PBK SENA AIRE PLAYARD IN BROKEN ARROW

So, technically I haven’t purchased this yet… but I definitely am going to. I think it’s important to have a travel-ready playard for when we visit family in Southern California or take weekend trips. It’s also good for her to take naps in or to play in when she’s a toddler (she can use this until she’s 3 years old). I love the color & design– it’s very clean and simple. Here is the link if you’re interested.

These are some of the big items we have decided on! I hope this was helpful for some of you, if you’re expecting or getting ready to start trying to have a baby! I am happy with the choices we have made. Some items aren’t on here like a crib or changing table because 1) she’s not getting a crib until she’s 6 months old, she will be sleeping in a small bassinet and 2) we didn’t purchase a changing table, instead we have a changing pad on top of her dresser!

If you have some big items that I didn’t mention, I would love to know. 🙂 I hope you all have a wonderful week ahead!

*I do not own any of these photos, I got them from their websites

*I am not affiliated with any of these links, and do not get paid for linking these items. These are all purchased with my own money, or gifted from family.

36 WEEKS PREGNANT

I haven’t updated you on my pregnancy, since week 30. There’s been a lot of things to update you all on. I am getting so big, it’s incredible to see my body changing so much! I got my first stretch marks on my stomach *insert sad face*. There’s about 3 on my stomach, it was bound to happen though! I keep lathering oil & lotion everyday, just to keep my belly moisturized.

I officially packed my hospital bag! AHHHHH! I have the majority of it packed & ready to go, including baby’s blankets, outfits, and bows! I just need the last items thrown in there (toothbrush, toothpaste, hair brush, contact solution & contacts, etc). Packing my bag made things SO REAL. It’s insane that my due date is exactly 4 weeks away! I’m hoping she comes a little earlier though 😉 We are just too excited to meet her, not to mention I’m very uncomfortable!

SYMPTOMS:

  • Insomnia– Man, this one has been killer. Sleep is  a luxury now! I cannot get comfortable to save my life! I’m usually up past midnight, and waking up every few hours tossing/turning. When people tell you “Oh, get all the sleep you can get before baby comes, because once baby is here… you won’t get any” Can I just vent & say that is a crock of shit?! Now that I’ve experienced pregnancy & am 36 weeks, that statement is a LIE. When you’re pregnant, you’re not sleeping peacefully! I honestly think it’s the body’s way to prepare for whats to come though. END RANT. Haha!
  • Exhaustion– This one is a no brainer! Since I’m not getting a good night’s sleep, I have ZERO energy throughout the day. Sometimes I take naps but I try not to, so when night comes I hope I’ll just knock out. Hah! It’s a horrible cycle these past few weeks!
  • Peeing all night– I’m up every hour or two, peeing. It’s like my first trimester all over again!
  • Increase in aches & pains– Pregnancy is no joke! Eloise’s head is DOWN now, and I’m pretty sure my belly has dropped because I feel a lot of pressure on my bladder! Getting out of bed is hard, tying my shoes is nearly impossible, and putting on my jeans is painful.
  • Braxton Hicks and Cramping– Sometimes I get cramps that feel like period cramps, but they don’t stay around for long periods of time. I was getting braxton hicks contractions a few weeks ago, but I haven’t felt one in awhile.
  • Nesting– I’ve been nesting for weeks! It’s not an everyday thing, but I’ll get these random bursts of energy/feeling the urge to clean and organize. I’ve washed all of her clothes and blankets, I’ve organized her dresser, and I’ve been trying to keep my own room clean! I can’t wait to install her carseat and buy her stroller (the last things I need)!

I have the baby’s bassinet set up, her mamaroo ready, and some diapers bought! I think I’m as “ready” as I possibly can be. My twin sister gave birth almost 3 months ago, so she’s been my go-to person to ask for advice and comfort me when I’m feeling overwhelmed or really anxious.

I can’t wait to meet this little peanut. I’m feeling so many emotions these last few weeks of being pregnant! I’m going to do my best to savor these last moments because who knows if and when I’ll ever get pregnant again! I know one day I’ll miss my pregnant belly and her kicks!

pumpkin patch with my little pumpkin

Last weekend we took a drive to Half Moon Bay, to visit the pumpkin patch. It was my first time here, and it was such a nice drive! I’m so glad I got to cross this off my Autumn to-do list this year. I definitely wanted some pictures with my big bump so I’m able to look back on for memories! It was a little overcast at first, but the sun eventually came out.

I’m 33 weeks pregnant here! Man, pregnancy is exhausting, and sleep is a joke! I am constantly tossing and turning, it’s so frustrating. But I guess it’s good in a way, since it’ll prepare me for those sleepless nights the first few months.

We went on a hospital tour a few days ago, and it’s just getting more real. In under 6 weeks I’ll be holding sweet E in my arms!

I can’t believe we are at the end of October! HOW?! I hope you all have a wonderful rest of the month & a HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

A SWEET BABY SHOWER FOR OUR GIRL

This past weekend, we drove down to Southern California to have our baby shower with friends and family. It was in this adorable event space in Burbank, and it turned out exactly how I envisioned it! My color theme was gold, blush pink, and peach.

This whole time I’ve only mentioned our baby’s first name to close family and friends, but never announced it on social media! Well I thought posting the baby shower photos would be the perfect opportunity to announce her first name (we are keeping her FULL name secret until I give birth).

Our little girl’s name is… ELOISE. Ellie or Elle for short. I am in love with her name.

My sisters did such a wonderful job helping me set up the event space! I’m so glad we got to shower sweet Eloise with love before her big arrival in a few weeks. I was 31 weeks pregnant at the baby shower, and tomorrow (Thursday) I’m turning 32 weeks! HOLY CRAP! We are like 8 weeks away from her due date.

It’s a waiting game now! My sister had her baby one day before her due date, so I’m dying to know when she will be here! Will she be early, and be born at the end of November? Or will she be born past her due date? I’m so anxious! Regardless, she’ll be here in 1 month and give or take 25 days. I still have to do so much: buy a carseat, wash her little baby clothes, organize her dresser, put together her bassinet, etc. I’m in full-blown nesting mode now.

I was also thrilled to see my niece again! I hadn’t seen her since she was one week old, and she’s almost two months old now! It’s always hard to say goodbye, but knowing I’ll see my family in under two months again, makes me super happy! And this time… it’ll be with Eloise! We are all so excited for her arrival.

30 weeks pregnant:

HAPPY OCTOBER!

Wow, September flew by! I am officially 26 years old! My birthday was yesterday, and I had a really chill day with family. Dexter surprised me with tickets to see Death Cab for Cutie at the Berkeley Greek Theater & it was AMAZING! I couldn’t have asked for a better birthday surprise! I’m ready to make twenty-six an amazing year, it’s definitely going to be a milestone age (the year I become a mother, what can top that?!)

I am already 30 weeks pregnant, and I turn 31 weeks on Thursday! WOW. It’s so insane, I only have 2 months and 5 days left until my due date… but she can be here as soon as 37 weeks & be considered full term! AHHH!

I’m a lot more uncomfortable now, and I cannot be on my feet for long periods of time anymore. For instance, when I was at the concert we got there at around 4:30-5, we stood and waited until the doors opened at 6 & the concert was done by 10! I was DYING by the end of it. My feet and back hurt so bad, and the day after the concert I felt like a truck had hit me. Ha! It just made me realize that I cannot do stuff like that for the time being.

Some more pregnancy symptoms: I have been experiencing Braxton Hicks, I’m out of breath a lot of the time, and I found my first stretch mark on my stomach! 🙁 I was sad about the stretch mark, but I can’t dwell on it because I already have them on my thighs and such. I’ll keep rubbing oil/lotions on them, and hopefully it won’t be too bad.

My baby shower is on the 6th, I’m excited, but also stressed because I want everyone to enjoy themselves and have a good time. I have my baby shower outfit ready, I’m going to get my hair done at Dry Bar, and I have all my decorations bought for the event space. I’m hoping to get some beautiful pictures from the event, and post them here! Stay tuned… Hope you all have an amazing rest of the week! I need to go pack tomorrow for our road trip down to Southern California on Thursday.

SECOND TRIMESTER FAVORITES:

I can’t believe I’m in my THIRD TRIMESTER! I am now 28 weeks pregnant & I can feel my body changing everyday. The baby is getting bigger, and so is my belly. I’d say my second trimester was awesome, especially having the amount of energy I had! But I noticed as soon as I was creeping closer to my third trimester, my energy levels shifted & lowered! Bummer. Back to being tired again.

Also, I’ve been having MAJOR pubic/pelvic pain. It hurts when I walk, it hurts when I try to change my pants, it hurts when I’m trying to change positions in bed. I know it’s all apart of my body adjusting and making room for baby + the added weight, but this part of pregnancy isn’t so “fun”. Speaking of weight gain, I’m on track! My midwife said I’m not gaining too much, which is awesome! I know I still have about 12 weeks left (give or take), so I’m hoping I stay within the healthy range of weight gain!

I did have my 1 hour glucose test, and I passed that- which was a huge relief! I do not want gestational diabetes, and the thought alone is terrifying!  I did mention that I have anterior placenta, and I couldn’t really feel the baby strongly for the longest time! But once I hit around 24-25 weeks, BAM she started moving a lot! I’m feeling her move every night and morning now. I must say, it’s a pretty incredible feeling! It’s so surreal that MY baby is inside me, moving around. I still can’t fathom that I’m having a child! It’s an awesome feeling, and I’m so grateful I get to experience it. My body continues to surprise and amaze me with this pregnancy!

Now I’m just preparing for our baby to come! I am having my baby shower in early October, and I’m excited to celebrate with close family + friends. I hope to document the baby shower with lots of photos! I’ll make sure to have someone be the camera person, since I already know I’ll be super busy talking to everyone, and enjoying the evening. Anyway, if you’re curious what my second trimester favorites were- keep reading! Keep in mind, my pregnancy is super easy & I feel like I’ve been pretty low maintenance.

SECOND TRIMESTER FAVORITES:

1. pregnancy pillow- I HAVE THIS ONE.

2. comfy leggings/loungewear- THESE ONES. I need them in every color!

3. prenatal vitamins & add in some probiotics- MEGAFOOD PRENATALS, RAINBOW LIGHT PRENATALS, AND THESE PROBIOTICS. I have used all of these products & love them!

4. water tumbler- I couldn’t help myself & bought THIS ADORABLE ONE. You need to make sure you’re drinking a lot of water! It’s easier to have some sort of bottle to take with you everywhere.

5. comfy shoes for walking- Currently eyeing THESE or THESE!

6. Ina May’s guide to childbirth- THIS BOOK. I have so much anxiety/fear about giving birth & reading this book has truly helped with those fears! Even if you’re not expecting to give birth “all natural”, it’s still VERY helpful and eye-opening. I highly recommend reading this!

I hope this list does help you, if you’re currently pregnant or thinking about getting pregnant. I’m curious to see how my last trimester goes. I’m terribly nervous and anxious for the arrival of baby girl E. I’m sure these last 12 weeks are going to fly by! Until then, I’m going to soak up these LAST moments of being childless.

BABY NURSERY ITEMS: WISH LIST

Planning a baby’s nursery is something I’ve dreamt about for a long time. What color theme will it be? Where should I put the crib? I hope to have some nice bookshelves in his/her room! These are all things I’ve thought about, but sometimes that’s not reality. We live in an apartment & I made a decision not to get an extra room for her. By the time our lease ends, she will only be 6 months old and she wouldn’t have used the extra room because I plan to have her in our room sleeping in her bassinet for the first 6 months.

So no decorating a baby nursery this moment, but we will when our lease is up & we move into a house! I’m definitely looking forward to that, but I think we made the right decision to save some money and not waste it on a room she wasn’t going to sleep in/use!

I’ll probably do a nursery post when the time comes, but for now I want to show you a few things on my wish list!

THIS ADORABLE NIGHTLIGHT.

THESE SHELVES FOR BOOKS.

THESE GOLD BOW KNOBS.

THIS FLOOR LENGTH MIRROR.

TASSELED DREAM CATCHER.

AUDREY CONVERTIBLE CRIB.

CRIB SHEETS.

I love gold accents, if you couldn’t tell. I want her room to feel light & airy, but also whimsical! It’ll be fun to see if my mind will change about any of these pieces a year from now! Regardless, I look forward to decorating her nursery next year. It’ll give me time to save money and spend it on the expensive pieces, like the crib!

Hope you all have a lovely week! I’m currently in Southern California hanging out with my twin sister, since she is due the 13th of August… just waiting for baby Addie to make her grand appearance 😉

TOP BABY REGISTRY ITEMS:

So I’ve made my baby registry with Target and Buy Buy Baby… and it was a very overwhelming process! I did mine all online, and there was so many baby products to choose from. I’ll share some favorites on my list:

STROLLER: UPPAbaby Vista Stroller in Emmet

This stroller is VERY pricey, but I’ve heard nothing but amazing things! I definitely don’t expect anyone to purchase this stroller for me, but it’s worth putting on the registry! I love the pink “Sabrina” color, but I want something gender neutral, the green color is gorgeous! I’m also obsessed with the bassinet & how it’s perfect for up to 3 children! I think it’s a good investment.

CARSEAT: UPPAbaby Mesa Infant Car Seat

Since I want the UPPAbaby stroller, getting the Mesa carseat just makes sense. It has some incredible reviews!

BABY CARRIER: Tula Free to Grow Carrier in Blossom

Everyone seems to really enjoy this baby carrier. I also would love to add a wrap/baby sling on my list, but haven’t picked which brand. If you have any baby carriers that you absolutely love, feel free to leave them down in the comments! I would really appreciate it.

BABY SAFETY: Owlet Smart Sock 2 Baby Monitor

This is something that’s on the top of my wish list. It’s a monitor that you put on your baby’s foot to track their heart rate and oxygen levels. It’s something for you to have peace of mind because SIDS is a real concern for newborns. I’m gifting my sister one!

DIAPER BAG: Ju-ju-be Rose BFF Diaper Bag in Whimsical Watercolor

It was so hard to narrow down & pick a diaper bag! I haven’t seen this one in person… yet. But I love how this can be worn as a backpack, it has a lot of pockets (even insulated pockets for bottles), and I’m obsessed with the print! A few people mentioned they love this diaper bag & recommended it to me, so for now this is my top choice!

NURSING PILLOW: Boppy Nursing Pillow in Gray

I just love this fun print! It’s so cute. I want to breastfeed, so I heard this will really come in handy.

I have a ton of other things on our registry: diapers, muslin swaddle blankets, burp cloths, a humidifier, an air purifier, a baby monitor, car seat cover, baby bath, sound machine, bottles, breast pump, etc. If you have any favorite baby items, share them with me! I’d love to know.

20 WEEKS PREGNANT: HALFWAY THERE!

I’m officially 20 weeks pregnant! Oh boy, we are halfway there. I don’t feel prepared at all, but I think that has a lot to do with all of the unknowns and this being my first rodeo!

I had my 20 week anatomy scan done yesterday, so I’m hoping everything turns out fine with the baby’s growth & progress. It’s always nerve-wrecking to wonder if everything is measuring accordingly, and that her heart and every other organ is fine. Dexter was in the room with me the whole time, so it was so great seeing baby E for 40 minutes! She was tossing and turning a lot, and when it was time to make sure she was a girl (since we already did a gender scan at 14 weeks, I wanted a second confirmation)… she was NOT having it. Her legs were crossed the entire time & did not undo her ankles. She’s a stubborn one, just like her mama. The technician said she didn’t see anything “poking out” but couldn’t give us a definite answer, so she’s still a girl until further notice. Hah! I think at my next DR visit, I’ll ask for a blood test to confirm the gender if they don’t want to do another ultrasound.

Yesterday I also found out I have anterior placenta… meaning my placenta is positioned on the front side of my womb, or my stomach side. This makes sense as to why I haven’t felt the baby kick/move at ALL! I was starting to worry, but it’s basically a cushion or barrier between me and the baby, so I should start feeling movement in a few more weeks. I’m so ready to start feeling her move!!

WEIGHT GAIN:

My midwife said I’m right on track with my weight gain. I’ve gained a total of 9 lbs so far. I’m trying my hardest not to gain too much! I started pregnancy already not being my “ideal” weight, so I don’t realistically need to gain more than 20-25 lbs — I started off being too heavy for my height!

CRAVINGS:

I haven’t had any weird cravings. This whole pregnancy I’ve enjoyed eating (and will crave) fresh fruit, smoothies, and the occassional fast food items like french fries & soda! I only enjoy drinking really cold drinks (but this isn’t anything new, because I’ve always preferred cold to hot).

HOW AM I FEELING?

I’ve been feeling great. My energy is back, BUT I can’t do too much or I will get tired quickly. I never had morning sickness or nausea, so I’ve always had an appetite! The only complaints I have thus far is round ligament pain. Oh boy, is that uncomfortable! I can’t walk or stand for long periods of time, or where my bikini line/pelvis is, will start to hurt. It’s the weirdest feeling ever! So I try to take things slow, and sit down when my body tells me to rest My uterus feels heavy, and it’s just amazing how fast my body is making changes and room for this baby to grow! My ligaments are stretching, and it has been uncomfortable.

SLEEP:

I thought I’d add this because sleeping has been so UNCOMFORTABLE. I know I’m only 20 weeks along (I can’t imagine being 8-9 months pregnant, ugh) but it’s been a struggle to try and find a comfortable sleeping position. I’m a huge belly sleeper, and that’s just not an option anymore. Dexter did buy me a pregnancy pillow, but it’s not enough for me to sleep soundly through the night, I toss & turn A LOT! Not to mention, I’m getting up to pee 2-3 times a night. Haha!

Next post I want to talk baby related items: diaper bags, strollers, car seats, etc. I already have my eye on a few things I want, and have created a registry, so I don’t mind sharing what’s on my list!

FIRST TRIMESTER FAVORITES:

Hi everyone!

I meant to write this post awhile ago, but life has been very busy with moving to a new city and apartment. I have lots more boxes to unpack, but wanted to share my first trimester must haves! Mine will probably be different from other women’s because I did NOT have morning sickness or nausea (keep that in mind).

  1. Good prenatal vitamins. The day I found out I was pregnant I rushed to Target and chose Nature Made Prenatal Multi. I like them a lot! I know that some women get sick/nauseas from taking their prenatal vitamins, but I didn’t. They are inexpensive, too! I only bought the 90 capsules, and did not repurchase because I found these ones called Rainbow Light Prenatal One. Get a good prenatal that works for you!
  2. Make sure to buy good stretch mark lotions/oils! Although stretch marks are genetic, it’s good to moisturize and *try* to minimize them! I already have stretch marks on my thighs/side of my hips from gaining weight in the past. They are white now, but I still want to keep my stretching skin moisturized. For me, getting stretch marks on my stomach is probably inevitable! But my little sister bought me this oil called Mother’s Special Blend All Natural Skin Toning Oil. You can get it from amazon, but she got it from Whole Foods! I don’t love the way it smells, but it leaves your skin feeling VERY moisturized! I slather it on my thighs, stomach, and boobs! I also got this Palmer’s Cocoa Butter from Target! You can put the oil on first, then the lotion for extra moisture.
  3. Baby Center & What to Expect phone apps. It’s always fun to track pregnancy, to see how big your baby is getting and what it looks like. I was amazed with the growth and progress, and I loved reading about each new week with my boyfriend. Baby Center app has something called “birth club” and once you put your approximated due date, you’ll be able to talk to other expecting mamas about…. anything! If you have a question- post it, if you want to rant- post it! When I was feeling cramping in my first trimester, I was so worried but the ladies on there reassured me it was normal! It was just my uterus growing and my body making changes already (as long as you aren’t bleeding!) I highly recommend downloading them both!
  4. Fruit, lots of fruit. Like I mentioned, I was fortunate enough NOT to have morning sickness. I continued to have a great appetite and only had some food aversions (coffee and salads grossed me out). One thing that was strange and I never experienced was HUNGER PAINS & waking up starving. I had to make sure to eat every 2-3 hours or I’d feel like my stomach was empty (that’s the ONLY time I’d get nauseas). The best thing for me to snack on in-between meals? Fruit! I loved eating bananas, mangoes, strawberries and grapes the most! My body craved so much fruit and still does through my second trimester. YUM!
  5. Comfy pants/leggings. Crazy enough, my pants started getting uncomfortable during my first trimester! I literally couldn’t button my pants & SIT comfortably at week 10! I felt SO bloated and fat! So if you’re like me, just do yourself a favor and wear leggings. I kept trying to stuff my ass into my jeans & it was totally uncomfortable. I started wearing maternity jeans by week 12 or so.
  6. Pregnancy journal. As soon as I found out I was pregnant, I went to TJ Maxx and bought a cute journal to write in, to document my pregnancy. I have been HORRIBLE keeping up with it, but I still jot down things going on in my life, symptoms, how I’m feeling, etc. I think it’ll be fun to look back on and read!

I felt great during my first trimester. I was just VERY exhausted! If you’re feeling tired, rest. Take naps & don’t feel bad about it! You’re literally growing a tiny human being. You deserve all the rest you can get, especially before baby comes. If you have nausea, I suggest Ginger Ale, Preggie pops, and lots of water to keep you hydrated!

Today, I am 17 weeks 4 days. A couple more weeks & I am HALFWAY through this pregnancy! Time is FLYING BY, it’s crazy. I get to do my anatomy scan at 20 weeks & hopefully it’s still a little girly 😉 I am excited and very anxious, I just want to make sure she is healthy!

Side note: I made a Poshmark, so check it out HERE. 🙂 Talk to you guys soon!

xx
