two months until my birthday: ideas of where to go.

Today marks two months until my birthday (oh my gosh! it’s right around the corner…)

I will be turning twenty-four & thought it would be fun to share some places I’d love to go for my special day. Since it’s the last day of September, I usually always celebrate in October. This year will be extra fun because my birthday lands on a Friday, so I can celebrate all weekend long. (yay!)

What I really want for my birthday is to do a weekend getaway. (I know money is going to be a little tight because we are moving in November- so we need to save all we can for a moving truck, deposit for the new apartment, etc.) But I’m hoping we can sneak a weekend trip in!

Knowing I can only choose some place local, these are the ones that stand out to me the most. They are also places I have yet to visit.

A little over three hours away from where we live, it’s a little coastal town right by Fort Bragg. They have wine tasting, whale watching (depending on the time of the year), hiking trails, cute bed & breakfast inns, downtown area, and so much more. It’s definitely on the short list for my birthday getaway!

I’ve driven through Monterey, but never actually spent time here. Some of the things I’d love to do if I visit for my birthday weekend are: go to the aquarium (I’ve been wanting to go for a long time), eat and stroll the downtown area, and enjoy the view of the ocean! It’s so beautiful along the California coast.

This location I’m most excited to write about, and to be honest if I could choose any of the three- this is the WINNER! It’s located in Sonoma County, with a lot of beautiful vineyards and wineries. This has been on my list of “places to visit” for more than two years! I think it’s time to check if off my list, right? They have wine tasting, a cute downtown area with amazing restaurants, hiking trails, historic plaza, and a museum. This place seems so quaint and romantic. A perfect place to relax and start the journey of being 24!

Is it too early to start planning my birthday?

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend. I went to a delicious Mexican restaurant in Cole Valley yesterday, and had to share my experience. I LOVE good Mexican food, and if you do too- you have to try this place!

Location: Cole Valley in San Francisco

The cocktails were amazing! My boyfriend got Buenos Dias & I got La Dama. You can see what was inside our drinks in the menu down below. Super delicious! I love trying new drinks.

I decided to get the carnitas tacos, and it was magical. OH MY GOSH. The carnitas were juicy and so flavorful. The habanero slaw and guacamole were out of this world! As I’m typing this post, my mouth is watering.

There is outdoor seating, seating in the main area, and to the back there is a full bar & more tables. Customer service was good- no complaints. There wasn’t a wait time to get seated Sunday around noon, the server took us as soon as we walked in (which is always so nice when you’re starving!) I highly recommend Padrecito! If you have any food recommendations in the city (bay area in general), let me know! I love trying new places.

beauty products i’m loving.

Happy Thursday everyone! I hope you’ve been having a fabulous and productive week. I had an eye appointment today, and I’m so excited because I’ve been wearing the same eye glasses for two years now. I think it’s time to get some new ones, which I will post about later.

But for now, I wanted to share six beauty products I’ve been loving at the moment. I thought I’d start with the basics:

  1. Aveeno Absolutely Ageless daily moisturizer with sunscreen 30 spf:  I got mine from my local Target for a good price. You can find it here. But you can also get this from your local drug store like CVS or Rite-aid. I love this moisturizer because it leaves my skin feeling so hydrated throughout the day, not to mention it smells really good, and it has sunscreen (I want to stay youthful looking, so this is a must) I picked this up on a whim, looking for a new moisturizer and I’m so glad I did! It does not break me out, or leave me feeling greasy/oily. I definitely recommend trying this product if you’re looking for a new face moisturizer!
  2. Milani Rose Powder Blush: This blush is gorgeous! First off, the packaging got me! In the picture it doesn’t give it justice since I’ve used it already. You can find this product at your local target or here. The color I use is “romanic rose”. The perfect pink shade, and it looks so natural on!
  3. Benefit Cosmetics Hello Flawless Powder Foundation: This is my HOLY GRAIL of powder foundation. I get mine from Ulta found here. Not only is this product inexpensive, but it’s amazing quality. It’s coverage is medium, but you can build from there. This powder does not cake up, or break my skin out. I gravitate towards powder than liquid foundation, so this is perfect for me. I highly recommend trying this out! If you live close to an Ulta, go get color matched. I have been using this powder foundation for almost 2 years now, and love it. If you’re interested in the color I wear it is: Petal.
  4. Real Techniques Powder Brush: I use this brush for putting on my powder foundation and love it. I also have other brushes from Real Techniques & cannot say a bad thing about them! Find it here. The price is great too!
  5. Brow Powder Duo Anastasia Beverly Hills: If you haven’t heard of Anastasia Brow products- where have you been living? Her products are AMAZING & a total game changerI can’t believe I only learned about this product maybe 3 years ago or so. CRAZY. Basically, brows are a topic of discussion nowadays… and you don’t want to have shitty eyebrows! Get this powder (she also has pencil and brow pomade) & give your eyebrows the loving attention they deserve! I buy mine in store or online here.
  6. Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real! Lengthening & Volumizing Mascara: I got this as a sample years ago, and loved it. Then re-discovered it a couple months ago, and wondered why I never repurchased it! You can get it from Ulta, Sephora, or any place that carries Benefit Cosmetics. You can order online here. This mascara says exactly what it does: lengthen & volumizes lashes! It’s a winner in my books!

I hope you enjoyed this list of beauty products I’m currently loving at the moment! If you have a list of your own— share them with me. I LOVE trying new things! I hope you have a wonderful day.

bags i’m loving: madewell edition.

Since I’m starting school this Fall, I’m looking for a new bag! Something that holds up well, that won’t break, doesn’t  look OR feel cheap. So I’m willing to fork out extra money for good quality. I found a few bags (some I’ve been eyeing for years) and thought I’d share them with you.

the transport tote (madewell) found here.

the holepunch transport tote (madewell) found here.

the east-west transport tote (madewell) found here.

Which one do you like the best?

Do you have any bags from madewell? If so, how did you like them?

SFSU, here I come!

I am so excited to announce that I am officially admitted to San Francisco State University! Community college has been a long drawn out process for me (i’ve changed majors many times, got very sick & had to take time off, moved a million times, etc), and I can finally put those days behind me. I have worked so hard to get here, I can’t believe the time has come! I have orientation tomorrow, so I get to figure out what classes I’m going to take this fall. I couldn’t be more proud of myself, this is such a huge accomplishment!

Not to mention, I get to spend another two years in gorgeous Northern California! For those of you who don’t know, I am originally from Southern California- my whole family still lives there. (I try to visit every 2-3 months) I’ve been living in the Bay Area since early November 2012. Coming up on 4 years… in just a few months. Man does time fly by.

I can’t wait to experience my last two years of college in my FAVORITE city ever! San Francisco is just absolutely breathtaking and special to me. I am so lucky to have this opportunity! I am officially a gator!

july goals.

Happy July 1st! I can’t believe it’s already July! I have university orientation in one week, on the 8th. Which is so exciting. I start Fall semester next month…. which blows my mind because I’ll finally be at my dream school! So many things to look forward to!

I have tons of goals I want to accomplish this month. I thought it would be fun if I’d share them with you:

1- Read 2 or 3 books this month off my reading list.

2- Add more items to my eBay account: check it out here.

3- Get back in the gym- or start doing evening walks around the neighborhood.

4- Drink more WATER!

5- Plan more blog posts.

6- Book plane tickets for this summer’s mini vacation for August! (fingers crossed)

7- Go to Disneyland! (I am a season pass holder & I need to take advantage of it!)

I hope you all have an amazing month! Please share with me some goals you have for this month! I’m curious!
