review: slimfast voxbox

Hello everyone,

I’m back to review some items that Slimfast and Influenster sent me for free. All of these reviews and opinions are my own.

When I received the little red package of goodies, there were four products inside. I was surprised they sent so many items, and excited to see what they were going to taste like. I’ve never used Slimfast before, so all of these products were brand new to me.

I started off with the 100 calorie drizzled crisps in the flavor cinnamon bun and they were SO good. I really loved these a lot. Not only could you snack on them from the bag, but the packaging also said you could put them in a bowl with milk and eat it like cereal. I thought that was clever, but I opted to eat them from the bag. For only being 100 calories I felt like I got a good amount of crisps to munch on, and I would definitely buy these if I saw them in the grocery store. I would give these snacks a 5/5! (so yummy!)

The next product is the Slimfast Advanced Nutrition Meal Replacement Shake in the flavor Vanilla Cream. At first glance I love the packaging, and how it shows you how much sugar, vitamins, and fiber is in the drink. For all those who can’t intake gluten or lactose, it doesn’t have any- so you can drink this product! I was a little nervous to taste it because I don’t normally go for “vanilla” when it comes to meal replacement shakes. I would rather opt for chocolate, but that didn’t stop me from trying out the drink. The first couple of sips were sweet, and actually good. I was surprised I liked the vanilla flavoring. But halfway through the drink, I was already getting sick of the flavor. It sort of tasted like cake batter to me, and for some people that isn’t a bad thing- but for myself, it was a bit too much. And that’s why I usually opt for chocolate flavoring for any kind of protein/meal replacement shakes because vanilla usually isn’t for me. But that isn’t Slimfast’s fault, as I didn’t get to choose the flavor of my shake. As for the statement on the bottle that it has a “4 hour hunger control” I would say it’s true. It does fill you up when you drink it. If I was at school, and in between classes I could see how this and a small snack would help me feel not as hungry. I give this product a 3.5/5. If I can get my hands on a chocolate flavored one, I would definitely give it another try.

The third product is the 100 calorie snack baked crisps in the flavor sour cream & onion. Once again, the packaging is great: showing you how much protein and fiber is in the baked crisps.I opened up the bag, and I really liked the texture of the chips. They reminded me of “pop chips”, as they are light and crunchy! So good!! I loved the flavor I got as well, but they also have it in mesquite bbq for those of you who aren’t a fan of sour cream & onion, which sounds so delicious. If you’re a chip lover, or crave chips as your “unhealthy” snack (like I do), I recommend these chips because they will fulfill your cravings & they are only 100 calories. I give this a 5/5.

The last snack is the Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Meal Replacement Bar. It has 10g of protein, 5g of fiber, and 18 vitamins and minerals. It is gluten free, and contains peanuts and almonds. It has 190 calories for the full bar, and it is a great snack between meals. My favorite part about this bar was the nuts and the chocolate. My least favorite part was probably the sea salt taste. It’s easy to throw inside your backpack or purse when you’re on the go. I give this a 4/5.

As the new year is coming, I know many people are trying to get back into shape, and any little thing can help. I’m actually in the process of starting my fitness journey again. It’s good to know that there are healthy snacks out there! The baked crisps and drizzled crisps were my favorite from all of these products!

Would you try any of these products? Have you ever tried Slimfast products, and if you did- how was your experience?  Thank you for stopping by!

brunching at rose’s cafe.

Hi all! I’m back from my trip to LA. It was fun and always such a great time seeing my twin sister. I love spending time with her, even if it’s just watching tv. Since I live so far away from her, we enjoy any time that we have together, and don’t take it for granted. She’s planning a trip to visit me sometime in the beginning of January, so I’m crossing my fingers I’ll see her again very soon.

We’ve been home since Monday, and decided to take Lola Mae to the Golden Gate Park, and get something to eat afterwards. Ever since we have moved to the bay area, we LOVE going to the GG Park. It’s Lola’s absolute favorite. We walked around for an hour or so, then drove to one of my favorite cafes, called Rose’s Cafe. It’s in Cow Hollow/Marina area. The food is always amazing, and it’s pet friendly- they have bistro tables & chairs in the front and on the side of the restaurant. I was so shocked Lola was such a good girl. She’s not used to eating out with me and Dexter. But she sat on my lap the whole time like a good girl! She got rewarded with some bacon.

I ordered some coffee, and the french toast with glazed apples. (SO GOOD!) Dexter ordered the breakfast pizza that has an egg, and ham on it (a restaurant fav). I gave him half of my french toast, and I got two slices of his pizza. AMAZING. The best of both worlds! CW9HDQcUsAAurXhCW9HDQdU0AAAfpF

If you’re ever in San Francisco, I highly recommend this cute little spot. The food is just so good, and it’s in such a cute area. My twin already requested that we go here when she visits, and I’m so looking forward to it already.

packing for LA.

I’m currently packing because I’m leaving to Los Angeles this Sunday; I will be staying down there for a week. Sometimes you just need to get away, especially since this semester has completely drained me (mentally & emotionally). I need some time with my twin sister (yes, I am a twin) and my family. While I’m out there I’m going to see my grandma, go to Disneyland, and go to all my favorite spots.

This little week trip is just to try and decompress as much as I can, and have some quality time with my mom and twin. I’m looking forward to my mom’s cooking—- and being spoiled, because who doesn’t love going back home and your mom spoiling you with home-cooked meals? That’s my favorite part.

I’m not looking forward to the 5 1/2 hour long drive with Lola, but I’ve done it a million times by now (I think that’s why I hate it, ha!). At least when it’s time to drive home, Dexter will be with me. He’s flying down Thursday and we will spend the rest of the weekend together- so it’ll be him driving us home!

I’ll be back to post about the trip + pictures of the places I went. You can follow me on my instagram: krystalinthecity for pictures.

review: dove dry spray

Hi everyone,

I’m back to review and give my honest opinion about Dove dry spray. I was sent this product from influenster for testing purposes. I used this product for about a week now, and I can truthfully say I really like it. First off, the scent influenster sent me was cool cucumber, and it smells so good. It smells super fresh and clean, perfect for long days at work, or running errands. I noticed that it did not irritate my armpits or make them itchy (as I do have somewhat sensitive skin). I did not notice any dry spray remains on my clothing, like the typical deodorant would leave (awesome!) But the only complaint I have is, when I spray it onto my underarms, it does sometimes leave some clumps of residue I’d later need to wipe off with a tissue (so make sure you don’t spray it so close to your armpits and leave some length so it sprays on evenly). I definitely want to try some of the other scents and I would buy this product once it’s empty.

Final thoughts: I would recommend this product to others.

late anniversary post.

The nineteenth of November was my four year anniversary with my boyfriend. It was such a huge milestone for us, and our relationship. We’ve spent four years together: laughing, crying, loving one another, at times not standing one another, but also supporting each other through all the ups and downs. When you’ve been with someone for so long, you’ve seen it all- the good, the bad, and the ugly.

What I realize from being with someone for “years” is, relationships aren’t perfect. There are times you want to throw your hands up in the air and give up, but realizing that this person you’re with is amazing. Like my mother always told me: “if the good outweighs the bad, keep fighting for it, because it’s worth it. But if the bad outweighs the good, there’s no point in being miserable. You only have one life to live.” Relationships require trust, respect, loyalty, and at times it can be hard to balance it all. I’m super proud of the things we’ve accomplished together, and I think we make a great team.

My favorite memories with Dexter have been our adventures together. We share a passion for good food and traveling to new places; that was one of the many reasons why I fell in love with him. He’s an amazing planner: he has been the one to take control and plan out all of our trips (he’s so good at it!) We have gone to NYC, Maui, and Seattle together, along with tons of places in California. I cannot wait for more traveling!

I look back to the beginning of our relationship, and it all seems so far away, but at the same time it feels just like yesterday. It’s such a weird feeling, but it makes me happy knowing we have come this far together. I love you Dexter.

Cheers to our fourth year together, and many more.
